Harvest is full (almost)

We are close to maximum capacity. We’ve closed registration to take a full tally. We will open registration again on Tuesday, September 8th at 9 PM ET to fill the final few spots.

Queering Power Wrap Up

Well, folks, we’re thrilled to report that our first-ever Queering Power event was a smash success! The event fully sold out, so we welcomed a full house of Harvesters and other pervy queers and raised over $1,000 toward the cost of Harvest 2013. Amazing! Our roster of fabulous presenters (from Toronto, Ottawa, St-Jean-sur-Richelieu and Chicago) took us through a day of inspiring, highly interactive and deliciously thought-provoking discussions, and many of us also enjoyed a delightful unofficial participant-run play party in the evening. We’re very grateful to everyone who came together to help make this happen, and to our generous sponsors, PTS Ottawa and Venus Envy, for their ongoing support of our work.

There was strong demand for Queering Power to become an annual event. We like this idea! It’s a bit too early to make any promises, but watch this space for further details once Harvest 2013 is finished. Do note that if we hold Queering Power annually, you can expect it to fall earlier in the year for 2014 – think more March than June – as we’d like to allow more space between QP and Spring Fling, which is traditionally held in late May. Stay tuned!

Queering Power – An Unholy Fundraiser

Tied upQueering Power is a one-day event focused exclusively on the discussion of queer D/s and M/s power dynamics. Jacqueline and Andrea have assembled a fine selection of carefully curated presenters and facilitators in the hopes of drawing together a yummy bunch of pervy queers (ALL genders welcome) for a day of deep reflection, community-building and fundraising for Harvest 2013! Here it is, quick and dirty:

Where: Ottawa, chez Pink Triangle Services (PTS) at 331 Cooper St. Suite 200 (view map)

When: Saturday, June 8, 9:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.

How Much: Suggested donation is $40. Less is fine if you’re broke. More is great if you can spare it! All proceeds will go to supporting this year’s Unholy Harvest.

Who: Anyone who is comfortable with the label queer is invited to join us! for this gathering of D/s and M/s-oriented Harvester sorts, plus some cool queer cis guys of the same bent!

What: We’ll be putting up a detailed schedule soon, but here’s the gist: we’ll offer a series of workshops throughout the day. Some will bring the group together, some timeslots offer a choice between a dominant-oriented workshop and a submissive-oriented workshop.

Registration: Click here to register. Spaces are very limited so don’t wait.

Accessibility

The workshop space is on the second floor of a commercial building off a major street. The building has no steps, but there is a slight incline up to the door. There is a single elevator. The entrances to the workshop space are wide and there are no steps or ledges. The area has a large open space and a smaller classroom (capacity is 35) off the large space. There is a kitchen in the main space which has no impediments to get in, but the counters are not wheelchair height and the sink would not be accessible unless you were standing up.

The bathrooms are not wheelchair accessible. There are no ledges or steps to access the bathrooms, but the entrance is narrow and twists. If you would like exact measurements, please contact us at unholyharvest@yahoo.ca and we will happily provide them. The stalls are small and there are only standing-level sinks.

As the space does not belong to us, we do not have control over the use of scented cleaning products. Some of the other attendees may use scent, though we always ask that attendees refrain on the day of the conference.

For further information about our accessibility policies, please see our accessibility page.

We can’t wait to see you!

Your friendly coordinatrixes,

Jacqueline St-Urbain and Andrea Zanin

Our theme this year is High School Confidential. Welcome to Harvest High—it’s the Homecoming you never had! This year, step into the school gym for a dance and talent show on Friday night to kick off our High School Confidential weekend. No matter who you were then, now you can be the jock, the geek, the librarian, the cheerleader or even the principal. Experience school like it should be: make out under the bleachers, be hot for teacher, or get up to your own risky business. Friday night’s festivities will include prizes for best costumes, so pull out those pompoms and show some school spirit!

**This year, with our move to Toronto, some of our costs have risen unexpectedly, and at too late a date for us to change our registration prices to boost our revenue. So if you’ve got some spare cash you can donate, 2012 is the year we could use it the most! You can donate here or add a few extra dollars to your cart when you register. Every little bit helps.**

Please note registration is now closed for 2012.

This year we’re working hard to make Harvest more accessible to French-speaking pervs from all over Canada. For starters, this website will be fully translated over the summer. Also, if you’re bilingual, you can help at the event itself by providing ad-hoc whisper translation—we’ll even give you a custom-made hanky to flag with! Just check the appropriate box when you register. Read our FAQ question for more info.

In addition to wheelchair-accessible venues, we take a range of other measures to make Harvest more accessible for people with dis/abilities, including people who are Deaf and hard of hearing. If you’re a fast typist and have a laptop, you can help at the event by taking notes for people—and you’ll get a custom hanky, too! Just check the appropriate box when you register. Read our Accessibility page for more information on all this stuff.

An Unholy Harvest is open to women (including trans women) and trans men who respect and honour a women’s play space and who feel they have a place among leatherdykes.

We can’t wait to see you in October!

As for this year’s theme… Step right up! Buy a ticket for the big top and slip into the glitz and glam of our sexy, pervy circus party! This year, Harvest lets loose the dark and dirty side of the circus. Friday night’s kickoff will let you step through the funhouse mirror and soak up a world of mystery, artifice and sleight-of-hand. That night, the people wearing the best “Cirque du Sado”-inspired get-ups—ringmasters, trapeze acts, big cats, contortionists, magicians and more—will win prizes, decided by applause. Whether you win or not, expect much cheerful lechery and heartfelt appreciation for your look and your creativity. Costumes are not obligatory, but they sure are fun!
